So the day has come! I am off on an adventure to Australia and Thailand, solo. This trip was planned only a month ago after I surprisingly found out I was going to have some time off of work. I’ve always wanted to go to Australia, it’s been one of those places that my soul just feels like it needs to go. Kind of how I knew I wanted to move to California, even before I ever visited. Have you ever had that? I figured why not take this time and plan a trip, who knows when this opportunity will come again. Australia is so damn far. Also, it’s summer and World Pride - hello! Thailand came about since I have the time, I literally looked up top destinations in Feb/March and Phuket came up consistently, it’s gorgeous, and not too far from Australia. Not going to lie, it has been a lot of work planning the trip, all of the logistics, and researching all the fun stuff to do - we will now see how the hard work paid off, it is finally here.
Of course there were a few small hiccups, which for me feel like nightmares when a big event is about to happen. Yesterday (the day before I left) I locked myself out of my apartment, a package of mine for the trip was delivered but no where to be found, my eyebrow lady wasn’t in, I got a facial to try and deal with the acne I’ve been getting and it made my forehead very red..plus I was trying to stretch out my Valentino slides but they still continued to cut into my big toes. My friend Terilyn, who had my spare key & luckily was WFH, laughed at me and put it into perspective - “boohoo Kenny you got a facial, on your way to a pedicure, off from work, life is hard.” LOL, touché.
Today has been smoother, I did my final errands, taped an audition, printed out the script of a play I will be doing at the end of this month, and my last package was delivered right before I was about to head to the airport, yay! It’s a cute adidas’s backpack and Nike hat in case you were wondering..I’ll snap some pics. I dropped off Duke at his Rover sitter, that was hard. I’ll miss him, even though he just ran off with his new temporary family, didn’t even look back, rude! The woman has a son, so I think they will keep each other very busy. Also, I don’t have a parking spot at my apartment, so it was the first time I used a lot service near the airport. Everything went pretty smooth - I recommended it if you are in a similar situation (Way App - UVP Lax Airport Parking). PS. The attendant might have had a crush on me and texted me a bit after I left the lot, wishing me a nice trip.
I am going to take these small lessons that happened right before take off to heart for the trip. This is the first time I am ever doing a solo trip, and this is a big one. I will be gone for about 3 weeks. I will remember to stay calm, not to get flustered, take it in stride and remember, everything will be okay. Everything is solvable.
